Cast Iron Waffle Iron – Best Price!

It’s about supper time so I think I may make myself another batch and I will try the PAM. The griddle is great! I sometimes end up burning pancakes made on a pan on the stove but the electric griddle cooks them much better.

What model is your griddle?

Teflon waffle makers are far superior . Those old ones are junk they always stick

those kind of heating element coil supports are actually made out of firebrick not porcelain

i just got a late 40s sunbeam W-2 waffle iron. havent had much luck eaither lol.

I haven’t heard “griddle cakes” either in the course of conversation but have seen it in books. When you said about irresistable it made me think of that song, “Simply Irresistable”.

I did have better luck on the next attempt though!

My parents had an old waffle iron, but they gave it to the charity store. I wish we still had it.

To keep the waffles from sticking, you might try Pam cooking spray.

try some cooking oil to grease up the waffle iron surfaces. I have two metal, weird ‘UFO’ look-alike vintage waffle irons; and they work just as fine. =D

Yep.. Same thing happend to me when I got my retro early-mid 1950′s Waffle iron.. I had sprayed it but then was still making the batter and by the time I added the batter what I had sprayed had burnt off already so now I wait untill just pouring the batter and spray first then add the batter cause if you wait too long you’re screwed.. What about your grids? are they reversable and flat and smooth on the other side or not?.. Mine are not..

We used bacon instead of butter. Worked pretty well

You need to season these grids. One shouldn’t even rinse them. To season them one uses a SATURATED fat such as lard, beef tallow or unsalted butter. One burns this on for a good 15 minutes, best to do this outside. Then let is cool, then do this again. Then it should be good to go. One may brush some lard or butter on there before one uses it again. NEVER use vegetable oil. Veg. oil will ruin the seasoning and make it sticky.

You really shouldnet be useing that stuff, Becouse of the risk of Asbestos, Asbestos was used in dozens of things from buildings to hair dryers to blinders, even if it still works its not worth the risk to your health just sayin….
